Girls Games for Jonas Brothers Fans

What makes a successful kids game for girls? It seems that a splash of florescent pink does it for most game makers. Personally, whilst I think that works as a marketing message in so much as I don’t have to think about what is in front of me – it is pink so it is for girls kinda way – I want a little more oomph for my little girl. She will be queen of the universe someday, so can’t be left to play pony games all day. Free online games for girls all too often have twinkly music, sickly sweet content and encourage a rather placid response to what could be considered banal activities.

It is probably far too early for me to be encouraging my little princess to become an independent woman with rights truly equal to that of men, but I can start drip feeding her kids games that will put some fire in her belly! Maybe it is because I grew up with a very definite message from The Spice Girls about girl power – which in my mind means you can conquer the world in a small sequinned shift dress and get away with it. It isn’t just about games that require a bit of aggression, it is also about offering up a variety of games that challenge different skill sets.

Free online games for girls are often more creative than the sorts of games that are offered to boys. There are games where you can dress play dress up, choose make-up and jewellery, or create images that are aesthetically beautiful. My point is that it should be about variety, as it is a having a mix of skills and interests that in the future is more useful to our offspring. That means that my son is also encouraged to play games that are meant for the other gender. Just as boys games can boost the get-up-and-go of a girl, kids games that are meant for girls can add a much needed pinch of calm to an overly energetic lad. Fact.
